Annual Conferences


SASA: The Scottish Association for the Study of America was formed in 1999 to encourage and facilitate the study of America in Scotland. The conference is designed to provide a forum for Americanist postgraduate students and faculty to share and discuss their research.

Conference 2010

The Eleventh Annual Conference of the Scottish Association for the Study of America will take place at the University of Edinburgh on 19 March 2010. There is no overarching theme for the conference, and paper and panel proposals are welcome on any subject related to the United States of America and early America. The conference, which is designed primarily as a forum for postgraduate research, will feature papers from a wide range of disciplines.

Conference 2009

The Tenth Annual SASA Conference was organised by Matthew Ward and hosted by the University of Dundee on 6 March 2009. Further details on the 2009 Conference can be found here.

The Ninth Annual SASA Conference was organised by Rachael McLennan and hosted by the Andrew Hook Centre for American Studies at the University of Glasgow on 8 February 2008.
